The trinity is a paradox

I appreciate this Medieval shield because it explains the truths of the Trinity in a simple way.

On some level it appeals to the labor I put in High School taking 4 years of Latin instead of taking Spanish or French.


Here's the shield with English translation:


I don't agree with the water-ice-steam theology of some trinitarians but it does explain how this paradoxical belief isn't a simple contradiction.

For those of you unfamiliar with the water-ice-steam analogy, here goes:

"Water is not Ice, Water is not Steam, but Water is H20"
"Steam is not Water, Steam is not Ice, but Steam is H20 "
"Ice is not Water, Ice is not Steam, but Ice is H20"

Now the trinity is a complex paradoxical doctrine I do think we can see logical parallels that show such a doctrine isn't contradictory.
